blank slate media

During the summer of 2019, I was hired first as a freelance reporter for a local newspaper under the media group Blank Slate Media. Blank Slate Media is the name of the company that distributes six newspapers across northern Nassau County and the Town of North Hempstead and had articles from all six papers published online to TheIslandNow.com.

What began as a freelance reporting job shortly turned into me becoming the arts and entertainment editor for the media group. As the editor for the paper I would organize a weekly calendar of events across Long Island, edit reader-submitted letters, write and publish entertainment and event-related articles, constructed the entire entertainment section for the company's weekly paper and interview those responsible for coordinating local events for feature stories in the paper.

In addition to my role as editor for the paper I kept up with my freelance reporting job and would interview public figures, such as mayors and town officials and cover local events for the Town of North Hempstead.
