After graduating SUNY Oswego with a degree in broadcasting and mass communications, I was able to land my first full-time job as a news producer in Colchester, VT with the ABC and FOX affiliate stations for the Burlington-Plattsburgh TV market.

The TV market is ranked top 100, which is pretty good for someone's first full-time job following graduation. While I was originally hired to produce evening newscasts across the two Nexstar stations, I was soon switched to morning news.

As a morning news producer I would work shifts from 12 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. and produce four hours worth of news, two hours on each station.

My main responsibilities as a news producer include writing all of the stories that were to be read by the on-air talent for my newscasts, stacking and blocking the shows' rundowns using iNews, clipping and publishing videos for the web using Anvato and BitCentral and scheduling interviews for morning newscasts with public figures and local influencers.

As a news producer I got my first taste of writing and my first experience in writing AP format.
